What is Kammunicate?
Kammunicate is an augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) app designed for iPad. It helps individuals with communication disabilities express their needs, thoughts, and feelings through drawings, communication cards, photos, stickers, and more.
Who is Kammunicate for?
Kammunicate is designed for individuals who may have difficulty communicating verbally, and their support providers or carers. It is suitable for people of all ages and is designed to be accessible and easy to use.
What do I need to get started?
- An iPad running iOS 18 or later
- Apple Pencil is recommended but not required (you can use finger input)
- No account creation, email address, or password is needed
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Kammunicate require an internet connection?
No. All core features work completely offline. An internet connection is only needed for the optional Remote Carer feature, which allows a support person on another device to communicate remotely.
Is my data private and secure?
Yes. All data is stored locally on your device. We do not collect, transmit, or share any of your personal information. The app contains zero third-party code or tracking. For full details, please see our Privacy Policy.
How do I set up the Remote Carer feature?
Open the Remote Carer settings in Kammunicate on the iPad, then create a pairing invitation. This generates a QR code and a 6-character code. Your remote carer scans or enters the code in the Kampanion app on their iPhone or iPad. No email or password is required.
Can I use Kammunicate with a child?
Yes. Kammunicate is designed for individuals of all ages with communication disabilities. We recommend that parents or guardians supervise its use by children. No personal data leaves the device.
How do I delete my data?
You can delete individual messages by long-pressing on them in the communication history. You can remove custom avatars through the avatar settings. To delete all data, simply remove the app from your device.
What permissions does the app need?
Kammunicate may request access to your camera (for photos and QR code scanning), photo library (to add photos to messages), microphone (for voice messages), and Apple Music (for background music). All permissions are optional and can be managed in your device's Settings.
The app seems slow or unresponsive. What should I do?
Try closing and reopening the app. If the issue persists, restart your iPad. If you continue to experience problems, please contact us with details about what you were doing when the issue occurred.
How do I update the app?
Kammunicate is updated through the App Store. You can enable automatic updates in your device's Settings, or manually check for updates in the App Store.
Troubleshooting
Remote Carer not connecting
- Ensure both devices have an active internet connection
- Check that both devices are signed into iCloud

- Try creating a new pairing invitation
Camera or microphone not working
- Go to Settings > Kammunicate on your device
- Ensure the relevant permission is enabled
- If the permission toggle is on but the feature still does not work, try restarting the app
